The Event:
LTUnity
A series of Covid-safe virtual social events

Client Brief
During the 2019-20 academic year, Leeds Trinity University knew that their response to the Covid-19 pandemic should continue to be personal and authentic, despite the challenges presented. The University rapidly transformed its Student Support department into a fully operable online service, providing safe, accessible and personalised support for every student, guiding their community on learning and teaching, mental health and wellbeing, finance, and welfare.
Assemble Events was approached to provide a range of safe virtual social events for the students to enjoy and bring the university community together.
Our Approach
Working in partnership with the university, we developed a programme of safe virtual events for the students (and staff) to enjoy.
We managed the logistics of sourcing suppliers, scheduling and live streaming each social event in a Covid-safe environment and effectively leveraged technology to ensure the student experience enabled connections between them and with staff, and conveyed the buzz of a social event.
The virtual activities ranged from escape rooms, cook-alongs, race nights, wellbeing sessions, crafternoons, quizzes, and comedy and movie nights, designed to help students feel connected.
Our services included:
- Event management
- Attendee communications
- Supplier management
- Platform and technology advice
- Event delivery
Event Impact
- A comprehensive programme of virtual events was delivered, which has evolved into a firm fixture in the University’s events calendar
- Positive feedback was received from the student community about the opportunity to connect with others in a difficult time
Client feedback
“At LTU we have now had the absolute pleasure or working with Assemble Events for a number of key projects. In the midst of the global pandemic, Assemble lead a project called LTUnity. This looked to draw together our work to allow students to still build community and socialise, when socially isolated by lockdowns, social distancing, online learning and closed venues and events.
An exciting and innovative package was rolled out – with Emma [Assemble] leading all aspects of delivery, including sourcing suppliers, working through the schedules, and agreeing costs and event timelines. Alongside this assemble joined us as part of the key working group to theme and develop the activities, working on the communications and the post-event feedback. While the events were taking place, Assemble kept them on track, of high quality and always delivered with the closest attention to detail.
We are looking forward to future opportunities to work with Assemble and would recommend them to anyone who wants the highest quality of consultancy for all elements of the Assemble portfolio.”
